IR Heating In Practical Terms

You’re probably used to convection heaters. Just about every home in the UK makes use of them as their primary source of heat. Radiators receive hot water from a central boiler, which then warms the air around the radiator, which in turn warms your room and you.

There’s a lot of steps there between your heating switching on and you feeling warm, which is why convection heating is relatively inefficient.

IR heaters operate in a very different way. They emit infrared radiation in rays. These rays are absorbed by the objects they hit, agitating the molecules inside and generating heat! This is a much faster process, you’ll feel the heat as soon as your heater is switched on. It’s not dissimilar from how the sun produces heat- but it’s even safer as there is no UV radiation involved in the process.

IR heaters also don’t connect to a central boiler system. This means they can be switched on independently of each other, so you don’t have to heat the entire house, just the rooms you are using.

Easy Installation

You also don’t need to be an expert electrician to install your panel in the first place. The only tool you’ll require is a drill, and the whole process will take you no more than 30-40 minutes. That’s because these panels are designed to have plug and play functionality. Your panel will work as soon as you plug it in, the only DIY you need to do is hang it on the wall.

We make that part of the process as simple as possible by including a stencil that will show you exactly where to drill.

All you have to do is drill through the holes on the stencil provided, and insert the wall plugs into the holes. Then you insert the screws into those wall plugs. Rest the panel into the screws using the two rear mounting brackets. Then all that’s left is to plug your panel in!

Even if your Wi-Fi signal drops out, you’ll still be able to control your heating easily thanks to the included remote control. This handy little device lets you switch your heating on and off at range, as well as adjust your goal temperature.

This remote doesn’t have the same range as the Smart Life app, but it’s a great option for easy control when you’re in the room with your panel. It’s also fantastic if you’re not glued to your phone 24/7, or if you have people or guests in your house who don’t want to go through the whole pairing process.
