The Basics of IR Heating

As Infrared is a lot newer in the heating world than traditional forms, like gas or electric, it is important to understand what it is and how it works.

Standard heaters work by filling up with hot water. This, in turn, warms up the air in the room. The hot air will rise and, once reaching the ceiling and cooling down, will fall. This process will continue to carry out which creates a convection current. When you pass through this, you will feel its warmth.

Infrared is completely different. Emitting electromagnetic waves, our panels release IR waves that will bounce around the space and hit objects or people. Once hit, the target will emit some of that heat and then re-emit it back out for the process to continue.

The key difference to be aware of is that standard convection heaters work by heating the air whereas, IR heat objects themselves.
